Dr Mel de Lange

I joined the Cancer Early Detection Unit of Queen Mary University in March 2026. I have an MRes in Health and Wellbeing and a PhD in Epidemiology, both from the University of Bristol. During my PhD I worked extensively with linked electronic health records including GP, hospital and UK Biobank data. I then completed a 6 month Wellcome Transition Fellowship working on a cancer survivorship project with the Beyond Cancer group at LSHTM. Prior to returning to academia I spent 15 years writing market intelligence reports for clients including Mintel and YouGov. I also have experience of working in academic publishing, in both editorial and marketing roles.
