CanDetect at Ca-PRI

Recently, I had the opportunity to present my doctoral research at Ca-PRI 2025 in Manchester. The conference, themed “Inequality, Innovation and Interdisciplinary Care,” brought together an international community dedicated to advancing cancer detection and outcomes in primary care.

My digital poster is titled “Health Economic and Modelling Methodologies for Early Detection of Upper Gastrointestinal (UGI) Cancers: A Systematic Review Protocol.” This work forms part of my PhD under the CanDetect Collaborative and aims to investigate how existing studies have modelled early detection strategies for UGI cancers, with particular attention to cost-effectiveness and long-term health outcomes.

One of the most rewarding aspects of Ca-PRI was the sense of community. From engaging poster discussions to structured sessions for early-career researchers, the environment encouraged open exchange and interdisciplinary thinking. I had the chance to connect with researchers across the world working on similar challenges and gained practical insights through informal conversations that often continued long after the sessions ended.

Presenting at Ca-PRI 2025 was a meaningful step in my PhD journey. It sharpened my perspective on the importance of methodological rigour in cancer modelling and highlighted the real-world relevance of our work. I leave Manchester with renewed energy, valuable feedback, and exciting directions for the next stage of my research.
