CanDetect and AI-DiP Joint-Workshop
On Tuesday 21 April, the CanDetect and AI-DiP teams came together for a joint workshop hosted by Imperial College London at the I-HUB building on the White City Campus. The session brought together researchers, clinicians, and technical experts from both programmes to explore shared goals and opportunities for collaboration.
Across the day, presentations and discussions highlighted clear areas of alignment between the two studies. Both teams are focused on advancing early cancer detection through innovative data-driven approaches, with strong overlaps in model development, phenotyping, and explainability. The workshop created space to compare methodologies, identify complementary strengths, and surface practical ways to work more closely together.
In particular, conversations around model building and deployment underscored the value of combining expertise across projects. Discussions on tokenisation, integrating models, and evaluation pathways demonstrated how shared challenges could be approached collaboratively, while sessions on regulatory considerations and routes to implementation reinforced the importance of aligning strategies early.
The workshop concluded with a forward-looking discussion on next steps, with a shared commitment to continued collaboration. By building on common ground and fostering closer links between teams, CanDetect and AI-DiP are well positioned to support each other in accelerating research impact and improving pathways to earlier cancer detection.
We look forward to strengthening this partnership in the months ahead.
